Under its Livestock and Poultry Program, the agency delivered 100 bags of cattle feed to the Albay Breeding Station in Camalig to help sustain displaced animals.
DA-Bicol information officer Jason Gonzales said the aid is intended to secure proper nutrition for domesticated ruminants and boost the livestock sector’s resilience amid the volcano’s continuing eruption.
“The assistance aims to ensure adequate nutrition for domesticated ruminants and strengthen the ability of the livestock sector to recover from the impact of the continued eruption of Mayon Volcano,” Gonzales said in an interview Friday.
In addition to cattle feed, the DA distributed nylon ropes, antibiotics, and multivitamins. The delivery of supplies to designated animal pooling sites remains ongoing.
Provincial data show that 757 animals housed in 20 pooling areas across seven towns and cities in Albay have been affected by the volcanic activity, impacting 371 farmers.
Gonzales described the support as an initial intervention, adding that the agency continues to closely monitor the situation and stands ready to extend further assistance if needed.
